Hot foil printing with laser transfer foils can be very rewarding. Results can often be quite striking especially when combining the two metallic foils together.
In the main image above you’ll see that I printed out a Christmas card topper with the three wise men on camels. If you go to Google and go to the image search, then type in Christmas silhouette or just silhouette you’ll get hundreds of potential ideas for prints to use with our laser transfer foil.
Once you have your image, print it out through a laser printer or copier. Before I invested in a laser printer, I used to pop into my local printer shop where they would print out dozens of black pictures for me on regular A4 paper for me to use with metallic transfer foil.
The next phase is to cut out a piece of metallic foil roughly the same size as your image.
Place one piece of A4 paper down and place your printed image cut out on top with the image facing up.
Then place the piece of metallic foil on top of the image with the shiny side face up.
Next place an A4 piece of greaseproof paper on top of your foil, image and bottom paper to create a sandwich to pass through your laminator. For some laminators, use another A4 piece of paper instead of greaseproof paper.
Once your heat transfer foil has passed through your machine, wait a few moments, then peel the metallic foil away from your printed image which should now be completely coated in metallic gold or silver effect.
Our laser heat transfer foils are available in gold, silver, copper, hologram, sapphire and ruby.
