Framing your own pictures and photographs upon canvas is very simple and the end results can be really rewarding.
For this guide, we’ll be printing one of my favourite photographs (above right) onto our A4 photo capturing canvas material and then constructing a simple frame using a box frame kit. Your finished work can then be hung or stood.
Following our steps can save you a lot of money as well as having the satisfaction of making the prints yourself.
We have made a pack of five A4 Canvas Sheets, ready to put through your printer for £7.99
Step 1 - insert your favourite picture or image into Microsoft word, Photoshop or your choice of photo software.
What you’ll be looking to do is fill one page of A4 with your image leaving little to no space around the edges. This is because when you come to frame your new canvas picture, you’ll lose a centimetre around each side.
Print your image out using your best print setting or “canvas matt” which is an option on some PC’s.
When you receive your frames you’ll see that there are two pieces of pre cut, perforated and folded cardboard with the main piece also having self -adhesive backing.
Each pack comes with step-by-step instructions to complete your A4 print on canvas frame in around 60 seconds. Watch our video tutorial to see how easy it is.
You’ll start by taking the main section and peel away the self -adhesive backing paper from the cardboard.
Now flip the card over and apply your canvas print onto the adhesive backing, picture side up. Smooth over the image and flip back over.
Each side of the card has a set of tabs which fold into the centre to create the sides. Remember, you’ve adhered your image already so each time you fold you’ll be taking a side of your image with you.
Each corner of the canvas prints frame come with a sticky corner piece for reinforcement that you stick on.
You are now ready to fold and insert your second piece of card into the canvas frames centre.
This acts as a second reinforcement but also has the back stand attached to it should you wish to stand your canvas print on a side board or table.
Your finished print onto canvas will look highly professional but without the extravagant costs of high street reproduction.
Even the large supermarkets can’t produce canvas prints anywhere near as cost effectively as you can in your own home. Be warned though, once you start this craft you’ll be hooked.
Give it a try and see what you can create for your home, family and friends.
One lovely idea for our canvas frame kit is to gain three wedding pictures, one of the bride on her own, one of the groom on his own and then to build the canvas frame around a picture of both bride and groom together, then position on the wall with the framed picture in the centre.
With so many possibilities, what will you create?
